The ability to enjoy the bright colors all year comes from the Color Guard® technology which enables the mulch to retain its vibrant hues. An additional benefit is that just a three-inch layer of Scotts mulch naturally prevents weeds by leaving them no room to grow and blocking their access to sunlight. Place mulch around trees, shrubs, flowers, or vegetables. In addition to enhancing the natural beauty of your plants, the mulch helps to keep them hydrated by conserving the moisture in the soil. This mulch doesn't just look good, it is certified under Mulch & Soil Council for quality assurance and industry standards. Each bag contains only natural forest products, no construction debris or pallet wood is ever added. And every bag is manufactured an average of 150 miles from the store where it is sold. Keep mulch dry for 24 hours after application to experience the longest color and then, every 3 to 4 months, rake the top 1" of mulch to optimize its coloration.
